The Initial Players included, B Hodson, H Hodson, G Moore, W Moore, K Welsh and L Wilson. After World War II when play resumed in 1948, it was with the support of L Wilson and G Moore, Taupiri’s founding members. As the club continued in 1956 a world tour was held in Mexico, which saw Taupiri’s Ron Walker selected to play. Taupiri still to this day hold the very popular Annual Walker Memorial tournament in honour of both Ron and John Walker, whose family have been actively involved within the club for over 50 years.
